Dr. Abdul Salam: Former Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut, is a renowned educationist, internationally known agricultural scientist and a seasoned academic-administrator. In a career spanning more than four decades across four continents, Dr. M Abdul Salam has established a reputation as a top-end scientist-educationist, besides being recognized as one of the most authoritative voices in the area of higher education. With over 150 research papers and 13 books to his credit, Dr. Salam has served in various institutions in the capacities of Vice Chancellor, Researcher, Professor, Scientist and Administrator. The national and international awards and fellowships that have come in search of him include the Post-doctoral Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship, Krishi Vijnan Award, Vice President GS Pathak Prize, Ponnuswami Chetiar Medal and a host of other recognitions. His PhD thesis won four awards including the Foreign Examiners' Donation Award. Dr. Salam did his postdoctoral training and research in 1991 at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (1991). Dr. Salam represents the academia in our Board.
